DIY Recycled Christmas Coasters

It is very easy to give into the madness of the season and forget about they joy of just giving…something, anything, even if it’s just a “Happy Holidays!” or a smile for a stranger (no, not the one you are trying to pick up on).  To that end, I offer you a simple gift composed of stuff you likely have lying around your house:

Supplies:

-Holiday wrapping paper

-Scissors

-Ruler (optional)

-Old CD cases, cover art intact

Don't forget the green nail polish...
Don’t forget the green nail polish…

Instructions:

-Working from either edge of your roll of paper, lay the cover art for the CD down with a 1/4″ allowance around all sides

-Use a ruler to create clean lines

-Cut your square and neatly fold over the entire paper cover (don’t make it too bulky or it won’t fit into the CD sleeve)

-Tuck the wrapped cover into the CD sleeve (you need the art for a clean finish and to tension set the wrapping paper)

Four coasters wrapped with a ribbon make a fun gift for that tree hugger friend or appreciative crafter.  Also makes a fun addition to a hot chocolate kit.  Enjoy the season!
