Easy Kiddy Snowman Necklace

A happy crafter!
A happy crafter!

I have vowed to get my homemade holiday gifts done early this year.  No last minute craftastrophies this time …no way, no how.  Inspired by a pre made pendant at Joanne’s, the affordable bauble above can be mass produced cheaply and easily for classmates and friends.  Here’s what you need:

Available at most craft stores
Available at most craft stores

Supplies

-Cotton cord (I chose a lightweight red and white swirl from Joanne’s)

-Two silver cord coils (same diameter of cord)

-4 Christmas decorations that are smallish, lightweight, and stringable (I purchased four snowmen for $1.99 at Walmart)

-4 pre-looped glass beads from a dismantled Michaels bracelet (always available at Michaels)

-3 large jump rings

-1 large lobster clasp (easy for kids to manipulate)

-Heavy duty clear craft glue

-Jewelry pliers

Instructions

-Cut 15 inches of cord or desired length

-Attached 2 beads, pendant and two more beads to large jump ring, close ring and loop cord through

-Apply heavy duty craft glue to end of cord and insert into coil, let cure, repeat on other side

-After 15 minutes use needle nose pliers to gently press on top three rings of  one coil (not the loop for clasping), repeat on other side but instead gently clamp the bottom three coils

-Attach lobster clasp and large jump ring to one end of coil clasp and a single large jump ring to other

You can further simplify by forgetting the findings and knotting the necklace.  This project moves quickly and is very kid friendly.

Happy almost Christmas 😉 !
